Ellenville, NY

Over the summer, I made two trips to the Fairchild hometown of Ellenville, NY for ancestral research; a combination of cemetary crawling and finding old obituaries in the village museum. I didn’t learn much beyond what I already knew, but I plan on a third trip to chase another possible source. The villiage of Ellenville is part of the township of Wawarsing in the Shawanagunk Mountains. There are two very old cemeteries, churches, a walkable downtown with bars and restaurants, and great surrounding scenery.

Fire Season

June 7 2023. Heavy smoke from wildfires up in Canada drift down and invade New Jersey.

Liberty Village

Liberty Village in Flemington, NJ was the first outlet shopping center in the US. It operated from 1981 until 2023. For years, this was a must-stop location for my family on our trips to Lambertville and New Hope. As of this writing, it is awaiting demolition to make way for housing.
